2005 bmw x5 3 0i i ve already checked the child lock. Eventually it just stopped opening from the outside completely and someone would have to open it from the inside. A door knob or door handle uses a spring loaded latch. Door opens fine from the inside but i can t open from the outside.

When the door knob is locked the handle will not turn which keeps the latch from retracting. Then the door stopped opening altogether. Looking through the crack at the latch i think that s the word for it the metal part that goes inside the door when you move the handle it won t retract into the door completely. Any idea before i open the door panel.

I might add that many parts houses sell packages of clips cheap in.
