Close the door and look along the edge of the door as it lines up with the frame. To start loosen the top pivot bracket setscrew with a screwdriver. Open the door to find a small screw that sticks out of the bracket. Because sliding doors don t fold out the way bifold doors do they allow access to only half the width of the opening at a time.

Here we re working with wooden bifold doors. Spread the crack slightly with the screwdriver and spread carpenter s glue with a toothpick. The door edge and frame should line up. To adjust a bifold s height use an adjustable wrench a pair of pliers or the wrench that comes with the hardware.

Adjust the bottom bracket. Close the wood with a c clamp and leave the clamp on for 3 to 4 hours. Slide the bracket in the track until the door is parallel to the jamb. Twist the nut surrounding the pin to raise or lower the door.

Use an aerosol lubricant to lubricate all the door rollers. Once the door is approximately under the hole in the track release the pivot. The bi fold door can become a nuisance if it constantly keeps coming off track. Tap the pin back in the hole with a hammer and mount the door in its brackets.

If the bracket is too low or sunk below carpeting remove the door and the bracket. Repairing bifold doors begin by inserting the bottom pivot into the bracket which can be screwed to the floor to the door jamb or both. The style shown in the photo requires you to lift the door and drop the pin into a different notch in the bracket. Every home repair must end in fun.
