Get the distance between inside of the rails.
Take the measurements from where the tailgate begins until where the bed ends.
Get the distance between the outside rails.
Start by measuring the distance between your outside bed rails.
Again the tape measure should be in a straight taut line even with the top of the bed.
Your best bet to get an accurate measurement is to not place the tape measurer on the bottom part floor but simply run it straight down the length.
Extend your measuring tape longways in the center of the bed to the far end up against the bulkhead.

To measure the length of a truck bed you should start at the bulkhead and measure right up to the inside of your tailgate.
Just make sure to keep it even and not move it away from the bulkhead.
Step 2 moving along your bed rail extend the measuring tape to the inside edge of the top of your tailgate.
