Inside Handle Will Not Open Door 1996 Chevy

I have a 1997 chevy 1500 with power windows and door locks.

Inside handle will not open door 1996 chevy.

Handle would only open from the outside. Drivers side door will not open from inside or outside. When you attempt to open the door from the inside the outside door handle pulls up like you are opening the door from the outside. You can take a long screw driver of piece of drill rod and manipulate the lever that opens the latch to get the door open and make repairs as needed.

Door opens fine from outside. Pu ton cab i pulled the inside handle the door. I have a 1996 chevy pu 1 2 ton 1 and 1 2 cab. 1996 chevrolet c1500.

After removing this screw gently wiggle this cup out of it s hole and there should be a metal rod attached to the back of it with a small clip. I haven t removed a door panel on these trucks but have on plenty of other vehicles. Inside handle would not open. I am in process of fixing it when the door shut.

My 1996 silverado passenger inside door handle will not open the door but the outside handle will can the inside one answered by a verified chevy mechanic. The doors lock properly etc. Fixing was not easy but was accomplished purchased replacement at autozone. I was having trouble opening the door from the inside. All other doors work properly. Roll the window down and carefully push the door panel away at the top right above the latch rear of door then look down inside the door at the latch and figure out which rod fell of the latch. Start by removing handles and arm rests etc whatever is obviously bolted on through the door panel then use a flat blade small putty knife to slide under the door panel along the bottom edge and pop the plastic clips that fasten the panel to the door.
