How to build a niche in a bathroom wall.
I used these clamps to hold the pieces together while i wielded the nail gun.

Determine location cut out cavity.
Apply wood glue to the ends of the vertical pieces and attach the top and bottom with brad nails.
Finally put the cabinet into the wall level it then nail through the stiles into the studs with 2 1 2 in.
Larger than the cabinet back so it ll fit easily and cut out the drywall with a drywall saw.
Cut a piece of backer board to install in the back of the niche.
Next mark the outlines or cutlines on the wall by using a pencil.
Assemble the recessed bathroom shelves.
Then using a pencil transfer the measurements of your niche onto the plaster wall.
Measure the height and width of the niche.
Be careful not to cut into the drywall on the other side of the wall.
This can be either 1 2 inch like the wallboard or you can go thinner with 1 4 inch thick board for example.
The advantage of a thinner board on the back wall is that it gives you a little bit deeper of a shelf.
In our example the niche is 26 1 2 wide 18 high and 2 3 4 deep.
Carefully cut out the cavity using a saw or angle grinder.
Score the marks with a utility knife and use a hammer to knock out the drywall.
Measure the height and width of the niche.
We recommend installing the niche in the center of the two studs if necessary.
Then cut some pieces for the top bottom and sides.
Score the wall knock out the drywall using a carpenter s square and a level measure and mark the desired location for the wall niche.
Use the spirit level to make sure your marks are straight and level.
