Once the structure of the roof is ready it s time to attach the thatch roofing.
How to build a tiki roof.
Cut a 4x4 to this height.
We knew we d need at least 6 posts to hold up the pallets and the roof.
Ours roof overhangs by approximately one foot on all sides determine the height from the middle horizontal support beam to the roof s peak.

I purchased a 20 foot roll of thatch for 100 from a specialty bamboo store that was a 30 minute drive from my house.
But you could also build a deck a frame to hang things from and the classic thatched roof if desired.
And as for a roof we planned to put one on but the tree branches would remain on the roof as part of the tiki look.
Step 11 build base for roof structure.
For the first part of the building process we break the palle.
Leave about four inches between each piece of plywood and secure them with framing nails.
Determine the pitch of the roof from the peak to corner.
Build your thatch roof.
First lift the roof structure into place and secure it on all four corners of the bar.
The most basic tiki bar for example would just be a bamboo lined bar without a roof or floor.

At the top end of this post cut a notch on all four corners.
At first we planned to have one pallet on each side to make a u shape but we ended up not doing it that way you ll see below.
My plans come with step by step instructions and you can easily adjust all the dimensions to suit your needs.
This step can be done at any point in the build however this is when i chose to do it.
We build a tiki bar using recycled pallet wood to add to our off grid cabin site in the forest.
Do not cut corners with the roof as it can make or break the appearance of the bar.
The second set of 2x4s will be used to make the frame of the roof structure.
